Second Lady, Samira Bawumia has joined a host of family and friends to celebrate former Second Lady, Hajia Ramatu Mahama on her 70th birthday.

In a special birthday message to the former Second Lady, Samira Bawumia prayed to God to grant her a healthy and happy life.

“Wishing our beloved mother Hajia Ramatu Mahama a happy 70th birthday. May Allah continue to bless you and grant you good health and happiness,” she said in a post on social media.

Hajia Ramatu Mahama, who was the Second Lady of Ghana from 2001 to 2009, is the mother of Member of Parliament for the Yendi Constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama and the wife of the late former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama who died in 2012.

She was born on October 15, 1951 to her father, the late Imoro Egala, who served as a Minister of Trade and Industry in the First Republic and the first black Chairman of Cocobod.

She was an educationist and had worked in the capital of Northern Region, Tamale where she earned the name “Mma Ramatu” as a result of her love and care for the pupils.

Her son, Farouk Aliu Mahama, celebrating her this morning, described her as his best friend and counselor who taught him the importance of hard work, respect for others and endurance.

She had 4 children including the Yendi legislator with the late Vice President, Aliu Mahama.
