National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare-Addo has responded to reports that he has been penciled down to play a key role in former Finance Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor’s bid to become flagbearer of the opposition NDC.

The former Finance Minister under Mills’ administration is reportedly lacing his boot to contest against former President John Mahama for the NDC’s flagbearership slot and is said to have already out doored his campaign team to that end.

Posters of the alleged campaign team which emerged on social media have leading members of the NDC including George Opare-Addo and former National Organizer, Yaw Boateng Gyan as members. George Opare-Addo, in the poster, is listed as the Youth Coordinator while Mr. Boateng Gyan is tipped to play the role of a campaign coordinator.

But speaking in an interview on Dreamz FM’s Breakfast Today, George Opare-Addo dismissed the reports, stating that he does not belong to any presidential aspirant’s camp and has not been assigned any of such roles.

He contended that his position as an executive of the party does not permit him to openly support any candidate hence, such reports and posters are mere fabrications.

“The last few days, there have been a lot of publications about our internal processes. I saw a poster of me, somebody sat in his bedroom, took his computer and did a poster and put my picture in there that I am Youth Coordinator for Duffuor’s campaign. I George Opare-Addo, I sit in Dreamz FM today and this on authority that I don’t belong to any campaign team. My campaign team is that of the NDC,” he stated.

He added “I am not permitted per law to go and support any other candidate. We’ve not even opened nominations and to the best of my knowledge nobody in the NDC today has declared his intentions of running for flagbearer. So it is not true that I am part of anybody’s campaign team. It is figment of somebody’s imaginations. I repeat and insist that I am not part of anybody’s campaign team. I work for the NDC and that is why I’m in the region today to work for the party and put it in shape”.
