Running Mate to Former President John Dramani Mahama, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, has said the National Democratic Congress is the only political party that cares about the poor and vulnerable in Ghana.
The NDC’s vice presidential candidate is currently touring the Upper East Region as part of her two day visit to formally introduce herself to the Chiefs and people of the region. As part of the visit, she interacted with members of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network, TEIN.
Addressing a gathering moments after a meeting with the Paramount Chief of the Paga Traditional Area on Saturday August 15, 2020, the first female Vice -Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast noted that the National Democratic Congress remains the only political party that has the vulnerable at heart.
She stressed on the need for prayers for the party and for herself as she acknowledges that expectations of her as the first female running mate of a major political party are high.
“Pray for the party, this is the party that cares about the vulnerable and that is what the attraction lays and as you pray, of course, remember me too as being the first woman to be nominated by a major party, the expectations are high but with God nothing is impossible. So we pray for that too”.
She stressed on the need for inclusiveness to make Ghana a place that is attractive and welcoming to everybody.
“And finally, please pray for the peace of our country. We don’t need division. We need inclusiveness, we need everybody to feel at home. Ghana is a home of hospitality, we cannot begin to fight each other. That will bring nothing so let us be peaceful, let us be inclusive, let us respect everybody just as God loves us all the same”. She stated.
She assured the gathering that the NDC’s campaign is for inclusion while pointing out that the next NDC administration will extend maternity leave to four months.
