The Head of the Association of Affected Customers of Savings & Loans institutions has alleged that government and the Receiver are deliberately attempting to deny customers of the defunct Microfinance and Savings and Loans companies their locked up funds.

According to the Head of the Association, Ezekiel Annor most of the customers of the affected microfinance and savings & loans who submitted their claims were told during the validation process that their names could not be found in the system

Dismissing claims by President Akufo-Addo that 98% of customers of the affected institutions have been paid, he said the Receiver had claimed he received claims of 350,000 which Mr. Annor said is only about 11% of the affected customers and out of which the Receiver validated 297,000 of the claims received.

He added that the Receiver has not finished making payment to the claims of the affected customers he supposedly received and validated.

Mr. Annor also refuted claims by the receiver that he only received 350,00 of claims of the affected customers saying all the over 3.3 million customers Bank of Ghana said were affected have submitted their claims. All of these he said is an indication of attempts to deny over 80% of the affected customers their monies.

“It is not true. That figure is not true. He received more than that. Almost every affected customer managed to submit his/her claims. Even those outside Ghana came down to submit their claims. How come he received just around 11%? And after that most of our people who visited these places for validation just to be told that their names cannot be found in the system. So we sense a deliberate attempt that over 80% of people are going to be denied payment,” he said on Joy FM.

His allegations come on the back of president Akuf-Addo revelation on Sun Rise FM in Koforidua in the Eastern Region that 98% of the customers of the collapsed Microfinance and Savings and Loans have been paid.

But some of the customers of the said institutions have since refuted the claims by the president prompting the minority in Parliament to demand for an audit into the payment.

Mr. Annor who spoke to Emefa Apawu on the ‘Midday News’ agreed with the call by the minority for an audit into the payment.
