Former President, John Dramani Mahama has been trending on social media particularly microblogging platform, Twitter following last night’s power outage in some parts of the country.
Major parts of the nation’s capital and parts of the Central Region experienced unstable power supply on the night of Saturday, April 3, 2021.
While some areas reportedly experienced low-current, most parts were plugged into darkness.
The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) has attributed the power outage to a technical fault. In a statement, GRIDCO explained that its conductor on the Tema-Accra East transmission line fell leading to the power outage last night.
It added that although power has been restored to some of the affected areas, supply has been reduced by 50 percent to enable its maintenance team permanently fix the fault.
Ghanaians have since been reacting to the development on social media particularly on Twitter with many showering praises on former President, John Dramani Mahama for fixing the country’s power challenges under his regime.
For them, the administration of the former president, unlike the current administration, was honest about the country’s power crisis during its tenure and took steps to fix the challenges.
While some took on President Akufo-Addo and his NPP for harshly criticizing the former president and failing to tackle the power crisis after taking over the reigns of governance, others sarcastically blamed the former president for the current power challenges.
Below are some of the reactions on Twitter:

He took the insults. He was vilified and spat on day in and day out. He went ahead and took the fall and saved us from Dumsor. Yes am talking about Mahama. May we use this day as Christ has risen to seek forgiveness and let not the blood be in waste! #MahamaForgiveUs #HeIsRisen
VIGILANTÉNII @jjaryee
Difference between Mahama Dumsor and Nana Dumsor is that, whilst the former told you the problem, made schedules to prepare you for the problem and went ahead to fix the problem, the latter is denying the existence of the problem and using PR to lick your brains. Don’t fall for it
