The Divisional Chief of the Pelungu Traditional Area in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region, Naab Serig Sore Sobil, has brought finality to the raging debate over the completion of a newly constructed police station located at Pelungu.
According to him, the facility has not been fully completed as there remains a few works to be done including connecting the structure to the national electricity grid.
The Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawane in an interview on Dreamz Fm accused some persons within the NPP and the Assembly of unduly delaying the handing over of the police post after the facility was completed before the December elections.
Reacting to the said statements, the District Chief Executive, Agnes Anamoo detailed to Dreamz News that the facility has not been completed adding the processes involved in getting the structure to be handed over have not been fully exhausted, hence the seeming delay.
But in an interview with Dreamz News, the worried Chief who had his traditional area hit the news headlines over robberies and appeared visibly worried about the development said the structure has not been fully completed as there remains some works that must be done.
Naab Serig described the politicization of the project as unwarranted and urged people to desist from politicizing such projects.
“My little checks reveal that it has not been completed. There are certain things that need to be done in that police station. There is no electricity at the place, there is no furniture, the place has not been commissioned yet.
It isn’t that easy; people are playing politics with it and I don’t want people to be playing politics with this type of project because the police are not into politics. I checked and what I understand is that projects like this need official documentation regarding the start and the completion. The District Assembly was supposed to issue a report but the Assembly was waiting for the MP to give them a report and the MP was also waiting for the contractor to give him a report before it gets to the District Security Council, Regional Commander and to the IGP for him to give his final directives. So, if all this is not done, who will come and say the police station is ready to be used?” He questioned.
Naab Serig Sore Sobil, further called for calm in the area following a recent robbery attack that led to the death of a Deputy District Director of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO at the Pelungo market.
