Songstress Fantana says she has become a better singer after exiting record label, Rufftown Records.
Speaking in an interview on Accra-based 3 FM, the former signee of Rufftown Records stated that leaving the label has pushed her to work hard at improving her musical craft as she is determined to prove her worth in the industry as an independent artiste in order to stay relevant and meet the expectation of music lovers.
She added that her exit from the record label has afforded her a free hand to make determinations regarding the release of her songs and also improve upon her creativity. The ‘Rich Girl Anthem’ hit maker said her latest song is currently enjoying massive airplay and commendation from music lovers because of the improvement in her craft.
This, she noted, could not have been possible if she was still under Rufftown Records.
“Being independent is less stressful because I now get to decide what I want to do and how I want to do it like how creative I want to be in the songs and when I want to release them. Being independent is actually going to make me do more because I started on a label and now, I have to prove myself and once I prove myself and once I prove myself, I have to keep going because people are expecting me to keep going. I think it is actually better for me. I’m not relaxed like I used to be,” she said.
The songstress and Rufftown Records owned by Bullet parted ways last year following a misunderstanding between her and her former label, Wendy Shay. Fantana prior to her exit expressed dissatisfaction with the label for allegedly not promoting her craft as compared to her then label mate, Wendy Shay.
