WAEC EXAMINATION

The West African Examination Council has described as fake some examination questions that have been flooded on social and said to be leaked questions for candidates writing the 2020 West Africa Senior Secondary Certification Examination (WASSCE).

Some science examination questions believed to have leaked from the examination body have been shared on social media and some news portals. Commentaries by social media users suggest the leakage was deliberately carried out to enhance the chances of students passing the examination for political gains.

In a statement seen by dreamzfmonline.com, WAEC  said “The attention of the West African Examination Council has been drawn to the circulation of several fake versions of the Integrated Science 1 & 2 Papers to be administered on 3rd August, 2020 on social media platforms.”

The council noted that “A scrutiny of the images being shared on social media indicates once again, the activities of certain individuals mainly operators of rogue websites and WhatsApp groups aimed at leading candidates astray and discrediting the Council.”

According to the statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the matter has since been reported to the BNI, CID and National Security for investigations into the activities of the group behind the misleading activities.

WAEC further assured that it has put in place all the necessary measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2020.

The 2020 examination is crucial for the purposes of assessing the impact of government’s Free Senior High School program on the quality of secondary education.

About 313,837 candidates in Ghana are currently writing the examination.
