Managing editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has lashed out at cousin of President Akufo-Addo for allegedly distorting a statement he made on Pan African Television.

According to Kwesi Pratt, an article written by Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko in response to a statement he made on December 26 edition of a news analysis show on Pan African Television is a distortion and a fabrication of what he said was to mischievously drag his name into the mud.

“It appears Gabby Otchere-Darko watched the show last week and since then, he’s written a widely circulated epistle which completely distorts what went on, on Alhaji and Alhaji last week. Mr. Otchere-Darko somehow is able to conjure statements and to put them out as statements which were made by me. I think it is most unfortunate,” Mr. Pratt stated.

Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko on Sunday, December 27, 2020 posted a write-up on his social media handle in which he refuted claims allegedly made by the veteran journalist that the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won votes of the security services.

Mr. Otchere-Darko in the post backed his claim that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its presidential candidate rather won the votes of the personnel of the security agencies and not the NDC as allegedly suggested by Mr. Pratt with supposed results of the Special Voting in the various barracks of the security services.

“I have listened to a speech delivered by Kwesi Pratt Jr, where he gave the impression that the NDC won the votes of the security services. But, the votes of the barracks in Greater Accra and most places across the country do not support this claim. 2020 SPECIAL VOTING involved mainly the security services and some journalists,” Mr. Otchere-Darko stated.

But reacting to Mr. Otchere-Darko’s article on Pan African Television, Mr. Pratt who sounded angry categorically denied ever saying that the NDC won the votes of the security personnel clarifying that he only demanded to know the outcome of the elections in the various camps of the security services when he was speaking on the integrity of the personnel of the country’s security agencies.

While questioning the motive behind the alleged distortion of his statement by the leading NPP’s member, Mr. Pratt warned Mr. Otchere-Darko to desist from dragging his name into the mud since he is not a member of the NPP where, Mr. Pratt claimed, he is considered as a demi-god.

“I did not make any reference to Special Voting in the statement that I made last week. I asked a very simple question about who won in the barracks of the security forces and I mentioned Burma Camp, Michelle Camp and others. How this somehow strangely translate into Special Voting, only Gabby can explain. In fact, I’m wondering why he did that. What is he trying to achieve?

This running around in a confuse state, he can do it in his party. He is free to do it in the NPP where people think he is some kind of a semi-god but he cannot do it in this public space,” visibly livid Pratt said.
