Upper East NDC threatens EC Over Alleged ‘Manipulated’ Regional Results
Executives of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East region have rejected the Presidential results of the region published by the electoral commission.
Regional Secretary, Donatus Akamugri who addressed a press conference on the afternoon of Wednesday, 9th December 2020, said the 329,854 published by the commission on its website is a manipulated figure from the 335,502 that was certified by the EC regional boss at the coalition center in Bolgatanga.
“This is contrary to what has been certified. The regional coalition center certified results in the Upper East region and signed by the director of the electoral commission and the political parties at the GNAT hall yesterday are NPP – 170,340 votes. NDC – 335,502 votes.
The difference between the NPP and the NDC per the Figures that the EC National has given to us is 161,359 votes. He presented.
According to Mr Akamugri, the results put out the EC headquarters in Accra puts the NDC and their Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama a smaller difference from the Regional Certified Results.
“How come we are getting a different figure at the National level given to Media when we the political parties and EC representatives in the region have a different figure. We want to question the National Chairperson of the electoral commission that; is she cooking figures in her office? Or is she picking figures realistically from the grounds that reflects the opinions of the people of this country?
He said “Our worry is that we are tempted to believe that they are cooking figures there in other to support Nana Addo because if you look at what I have presented, it means NDC will be suffering a shortage of 3,803 votes” a situation they have vowed to resist vehemently.
They Party is however giving the Electoral Commission, especially the Upper East regional director a two-hour ultimatum to make the necessary changes to the results or have them visit his home and office with all their supporters.
