Political and Youth Activist Kwame Asare Obeng popular known as A Plus has expressed his regret for campaigning against former President John Dramani Mahama in the lead up to the 2016 elections.
Known for his untamed criticism of government’s and political leaders, Kwame A Plus asserted that corruption under the Nana Addo led administration has worsened than it was under the Mahama administration, which was vehemently used against him prior to the 2016 election.
“I feel ashamed that we campaigned to remove you from power because akɔnfɛm flew to Burkina Faso and corruption, only to bring the “the mother serpent 🐍 of corruption” under whose watch 500 excavators vanished, over 400 aboboyaa vamoosed into thin air, 600.000 litres of fuel evaporated, a minister turned his office into a visa connection office, PPA boss accumulated over 45.000.000.00 million Ghana cedis in two and half years,” he wrote in a birthday felicitation to John Dramani Mahama.
He noted that the National Democratic Congress flagbearer while in office, was accused of having too many ministers and running a family and friends government. A situation he suggests has escalated under the current administration.
“Sometimes I sit down and wonder how we removed you because you had many ministers and accused you of running a family and friends government only to bring this sakawa man and his family government and many appointees like Keta School Boys,” he added.
Corruption and corruption related issues have dominated the media space in Ghana in the run up to the December polls following series of corruption related incidents and disclosures by Ghana’s former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu.
Political analysts say the rising concern about corruption, will largely influence the decision of voters in the 2020 election.
