President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says former President John Dramani Mahama has resorted to telling lies and claiming credit for things he failed to do in order to win votes.
John Dramani Mahama during his campaign tour of the Upper East region told supporters that his government will not cancel the Free Senior High School policy because it is a program his previous administration commenced before leaving office.
“We cannot cancel what we started,” Mr. Mahama said.
But this claim according to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is an outright lie which was peddled by the former President.
According to him, the campaign of the NDC is crashing in confusion, a reason the former President has resorted to peddling falsehood to win votes.
“It is unfair for the former President to try to become President using deception and lies. He has seen that his campaign is collapsing in confusion and fabrications, and so he is now using outright lies to try and amass votes,” he said during a tour of the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday.
President Nana Addo who expressed shock at the claim by the NDC flagbearer that he (Mahama) started Free SHS stated further that “I heard something yesterday that surprised me. The former President stated that my promise to start the free SHS policy was false and just a ploy to deceive Ghanaians. He was strongly against the policy and stated that if he had the money to implement that policy, he will use it for something else. He also said it will take Ghana years to implement it but now he is saying he started the Free SHS, and it’s surprising.”
