Stalwart of the governing of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has argued that it is not social media or mass media that will decide the winner of the upcoming presidential election, insisting that the winner has already been decided by the masses.
Writing on social media, Mr Otchere-Darko, a cousin of President Nana Akufo-Addo, noted that masses know and feel the impact of the leadership of both President Nana Akufo-Addo and that former President John Mahama, the two main contenders of the 2020 presidential election.
“By and large, this election has been decided. And, it is not decided by social media or even mass media. It is about the masses on the ground and what they know and feel about the two men and their leadership impact,” he asserted on Facebook.
It is unclear why the influential member of the NPP has made this argument, but both social and mass media are considered by analysts as key in determining the outcome of the upcoming election. Both parties are hard at work projecting and canvassing for votes on social and mass media.
