National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) Sammy Gyamfi has wondered why the National Democratic Congress(NDC) is being punished by UTV for the sins of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) following the suspension of Nokw3r3 Mmr3, an NDC campaign show he hosted on UTV.
Mr Sammy Gyamfi revealed that his show on UTV, Nokw3r3 Mmr3, has at no point attracted legal suits or calls for retractions or apologies.
Rather, he noted, it is the As3mpa Y3 Tia show by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), hosted by Ernest Owusu Bempah, that has attracted calls for a retraction and an apology by lawyers of Mr Ibrahim Mahama, failing which UTV and its mother company, Despite Media, will be sued.
For him, it is surprising that Management of UTV has suspended his show because of the failings of the NPP’s As3mpa Y3 Tia programme.
Management of UTV had explained in a letter suspending the programme that it has had to do it to protect its brand against legal suits and calls for retractions and apologies.
But Mr Sammy Gyamfi has argued that the punishment should have been directed at the NPP for their As3mpa Y3 Tia programme that has had lawyers of Mr Ibrahim Mahama threaten to sue the company(Despite Media, of which UTV is a subsidiary) if it does not retract, apologise and delete alleged false accusations against Mr Ibrahim Mahama made on the As3mpa Y3 Tia programme latest by November 4, 2020.
“…Note that at no point, has the host of the “Nokware Mmre” show or the management of UTV been served with any letter or defamatory suit from anyone, relative to the airing of the “Nokware Mmre” show.
How the sins of the NPP, (who decided to use a Host who has been found by a court of Competent Jurisdiction to have defamed Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, to continue to defame him) can be visited on the NDC remains a wonder,” Mr Sammy Gyamfi stated.
He however thanked UTV for having given the NDC their platform for the airing of the programme.
“Nonetheless, we are grateful to the management of UTV for the opportunity. “Nokware Mmre” shall continue to thrive!” He said.
Lawyers of Ibrahim Mahama on As3mpa Y3 Tia and Ernest Owusu Bempah
Lawyers for Mr Ibrahim Mahama have threatened to sue Ernest Owusu Bempah and the Despite Media Group, of which UTV is part.
They assert that parts of the As3mpa Y3 Tia programme hosted last Monday by Ernest Owusu Bempah contain information that is false and malicious.
They have therefore called on UTV to delete the information on all their platforms and retract and apologise latest by November 4, 2020 of face them in court.
