Police in the Bono and Bono East Regions in the early hours of Monday October, 26 2020 foiled a highway robbery on four buses between Portor and Gulumpe, near Kintampo after officers escorting the buses from Buipe towards Sunyani returned fire when some yet-to-be identified men attacked the buses at a curve along the Kintampo Road.

The shoot out compelled the robbers to retreat into the bush with gunshot wounds.

In a social media post by the Ghana Police Service on October 27, 2020, praising the officers for their bravery, the police service said a response team that later visited the scene picked up exhibits, including an SB short gun and cartridges.

The service is, however, appealing to the general public, especially herbalists, health facilities and residents around Portor, Gulumpe and Kintampo areas to be on the look out for individuals with gunshot wounds and report to the police for the appropriate action to be taken.
