Minister for Information and Member of Parliament for the Ofoase/Ayirebi Constituency, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has stated that everyone who has been a direct or indirect beneficiary of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s policies and programmes has an obligation to campaign and subsequently vote for him in the upcoming General Elections come December 7, 2020.
Speaking at Ofoase as he welcomed Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia into his constituency, Mr Oppong Nkrumah noted that the task to renew the mandate of President Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party(NPP) is not exclusive to supporters of the NPP, but extends to all who have benefitted from the NPP administration’s good policies.
“When you have an administration that, as a result of its strong economic management, can afford Free SHS, Planting for Food and Jobs, uninterrupted electricity supply, improved NHIS, extensive digitization of public services, free water and electricity during covid and an effective covid response program, it is important for all who have benefited from its programs to work to retain it in power…
“The challenge ahead of us is not a challenge for NPP supporters only. All of us who have benefited directly or indirectly from any of these initiatives, have an obligation to now sit up and canvass for votes for Nana Akufo-Addo and his MPs to be retained to do more for us,” he charged.
He stressed that the level of growth attained by the NPP for the country must be consolidated with victory for the Akufo-Addo administration again.
“We will not have another opportunity to bring Ghana to this level of growth. The time to seal this is now. So I call on everyone to get involved and work hard to lock his election down one touch for Ghana to move forward,” he emphasized.
He then appealed to party faithful to jettison their personal interests and support the party in the supreme interest of all Ghanaians and canvass for a win for the NPP.
“Now is not the time for petty internal party squabbles nor for pains about how a specific personal wish was not granted. Now is the time to put aside all personal interests and to work to ensure that the collective interest of the Ghanaian are protected.
With 4 more for Nana we can be sure that the progress made can be protected and more gains made for more Ghanaians” he advised.
Mr Oppong Nkrumah, a first time MP, has excelled in his work as a parliamentarian and Minister for Information. He is expected to retain his seat given the fact that Ofaose Ayirebi is traditionally a stronghold of the NPP and considering his stellar performance as legislator for the constituency.
