Upper East Regional correspondent for the Multimedia Group, Albert Sore, has been adjudged the best journalist in Human Rights Reporting for the year 2019 at the 25th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) awards held Saturday October 24, 2020 in Accra.
Mr Sore’s detailed documentary on preterm babies, Born Too Soon, stood out for the judges. Since the airing of the documentary last year, misconceptions about babies born before nine months have been considerably reversed. The stigmatization faced by both parents and babies was brought to the fore. And many confessed that they stigmatized them based on ignorance and superstition.
Mr Sore has won many other awards for his impactful work as a journalist mainly in the Upper East Region, spanning many years.
Meanwhile YEM Radio 89.1 FM was adjudged the Best Regional Radio Station for the Upper East Region.

Other journalists from the Multimedia Group who won awards at the ceremony include: Mr David Andoh of Myjoyonline.com as Photojournalist of the year; Kwame Anum of Adom FM as best in Small and Micro Scale Enterprises Reporting; Best in Health Reporting went to Afia Amankwah Tamakloe also of Adom FM while Sports went to Kojo Mensah Abroampeh of Adom TV.
Other awards received were: Sanitation and Hygiene Reporting won by Emefa Nancy Dzradosi, JoyNews; Disability Reporting (Akan) awarded to Samuel Alfred Amo, Adom FM; ADB Special Award for Agriculture Reporting – Prince Appiah, JoyNews; Transport/Road Safety Reporting – Kojo Mensah Abroampeh, Adom TV and Award for Democracy and Peace Building – Samson Lardy Anyenini, JoyNews.
The rest are: Exceptional COVID-19 Reporting – Irene Emefa Apawu, JoyNews; Exceptional COVID-19 reporting – Akua Boakyewaa Yiadom, Adom TV;Komla Adom – Children Protection; Political Program of the year (Radio) Ekosiisen on Asempa FM and
Journalist Of the year – Samson Lardi Ayenini.
