National Democratic Congress(NDC) Member of Parliament(MP) for Bolgatanga Central,Isaac Adongo, has revealed that he has not been able to secure more projects for his constituency because ministers who give him projects could be victimized or even sacked if they are found out by the government. This, he noted, is the reason why his constituency, like many others, lags behind in terms of projects secured under the Akufo-Addo administration.

Speaking on Zuarungu-based Word FM Thursday, October 22, 2020, the vociferous critic of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP), stressed that even when he lobbies and secures contracts, he has to be discreet about making public who helped him secure the contract.

“I am saying that even when I lobby and I get contracts, I have to be circumspect in disclosing who gave me that contract…They may sack the minister [ because giving me contracts will] promote me in Bolga. If they are aware that this minister is treating me with kid gloves. And I have examples of them here. And I have those projects here. Privately, I can mention all of them to you,” he told the host of the Word Community Watch Show.

Mr Adongo added that the denial of projects is not limited to his constituents but extends to all Ghanaian citizens because of the ineptitude and corruption of the Akufo-Addo-led administration.

“The government itself is denying its citizens because it is inept, because it is the most incompetent government that has borrowed over the roof but cannot show anything for,” he alleged.

Mr Adongo also denied accusations by his fiercest contender for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency seat, Mr Rex Asanaga, that he is incompetent, emphasising that he has excelled in his core duties as an MP, leading to the recognition and awards he has been receiving from reputable groups and individuals.

The contest for the Bolgatanga Central Constituency seat is a straight fight between Mr Isaac Adongo of the NDC and the governing NPP’s Rex Asanga.
