The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will arrive in the Upper East Region later today. But even before he arrives, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has issued a press release, welcoming him while challenging him to commission the projects promised in the New Patriotic Party(NPP) manifesto and pledged by the NPP during the 2016 electioneering campaign.

In a press release signed by the NDC’s Upper East Regional Communication Officers, the NDC challenged the President to commission ten projects promised the Upper East region.

They argue that the President is almost at the tail end of his four-year mandate, and therefore will have no excuse not to have completed the projects.

“Whilst welcoming the President into the Region, we would like to use the opportunity to remind the President of some of his numerous promises made to the people of the Upper East Region.

And knowing that he has been in government for nearly four years, with just two months to elections, we wish that he would indulge us and commission the following projects in the Region for use…,” the press release said.

The NDC then list ten projects that they would like the President to commission:

1. He should commission a 1V1D in Bongo: A project he cut sod for on 20th July 2018…

2. A senior High School in the Upper East Region.

3. Commission 15 factories in all the 15 Assemblies of the Upper East Region…
.

4. Commission a Regional theatre in Bolgatanga…

5. Commission a Police Hospital in Bolgatanga for the Ghana Police Service…

6. Commission a District Hospital in the Upper East Region…

7. Commission the mechanism that their 2016 manifesto promised to put in place to capture flood waters…

8. Commission the Kumasi – Paga railway project…

9. Commission all upgraded District Hospitals in the Region…

10. Commission WiFi connectivity installations in the various SHSs in the Upper East Region.”

Meanwhile the Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage, has indicated on social media that it is quite clear the NPP has performed better than the NDC.

The President, when he arrives, will inspect some projects undertaken by his administration as well as cut sod for new projects such as the construction of a Waste Recycling Plant at Sirigu in the Bolgatanga Municipality.
