The Upper East Regional Communication Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) wants President John Dramani Mahama to explain why he failed to make Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Isaac Adongo a minister when he visits the region today.

“The President will have to explain why he has not made Isaac Adongo a minister,” he stated.

Peter Ayamga Ayinbisa said constituents of the legislator had expected that he would be made a minister as he was very instrumental in the NDC campaign for a return to power.

He added that Isaac Adongo himself and John Mahama had created the impression that he would be made minister if they won the election.

The President’s failure to make the MP a minister but a “mere” board member has left his people feeling betrayed, Ayinbisa stated.

“We expected Isaac Adongo to have been appointed as finance minister. At least, at a point when he didn’t get the finance ministry, we thought trade and industry is another finance area

He didn’t get that. Just a mere board member.”

He added, “For me, board member of Bank of Ghana, it’s not an appointment (we should be proud of). We did not vote for him to go and become board member. We voted for him to go and possibly become a minister”.

Isaac Adongo had been highly tipped to be made a minister ahead of his party’s election.

He and his campaign team trumpeted his chances of being made a minister as one reason he should be retained.

However, he has only being made a member of the governing board of the Bank of Ghana, sparking outrage among some of his supporters.

Peter Ayinbisa wants the President to advantage of his visit to explain why he didn’t make the MP a minister.
