The National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region has urged applicants, who have been dropped from the race for the Municipal and District Chief Executive positions of the various assemblies, to accept the decision of the vetting committee.

Speaking in an interview on Breakfast News on Dreamz FM, Regional Communication Officer of the NDC Abdallah Johnathan Salifu said although the applicants’ quests to be made Municipal or District Chief Executives have been quashed, there are numerous opportunities still available to them.

He, thus, asked them to take the outcome in good faith and explore the many available opportunities.

“If it is the MCE or the DCE position, we say better luck next time. But of course it is not the end to appointment or job opportunities for people within the party.”

He added, “here are other opportunities in the offing that people can equally pay their attention to”.

He was speaking on the release of shortlisted applicants for the positions.

About 150 applicants had applied for the positions in the various assemblies in the Upper East Region after President John Dramani Mahama fired MMDCEs appointed by former President Akufo-Addo.

The applicants were, subsequently, vetted and the number trimmed down by regional leadership of the governing party.

Three applicants have been shortlisted for each of the 15 assemblies except the Nabdam District Assembly, for which 4 persons have been approved for further screening for the position.

The first batch comprising applicants for Bawku Municipal, Bawku West, Binduri Bolgatanga East and Bolgatanga Municipal District assemblies were expected to be vetted today.

Abdallah Johnathan, while speaking on the schedule for the vetting of shortlisted candidates in Accra, asked those disqualified at the regional level to take solace in the fact that their party is in government and that they could call up on to serve in other positions.

On why the only female applicant for the Kasena-Nankana West DCE position was dropped, Abdallah stated, “I think that is the discretion of the committee that sat on the, I mean that did the interview.

Not everybody would have his  name or her name be part of the list. So that is the decision. Any decision you take, it will definitely be issued”.
