A member of the Council of State, Cletus Avoka has assured Ghanaians that the 11 appointed members of the Council will prioritize national interest over party affiliation.
According the former Member of Parliament for the Zebilla constituency, the appointed members are individuals of integrity, who will provide unbiased counsel to the President.
The Council of State, established under Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution, plays a crucial role in advising the President on governance, policy, and national development.
The Council’s primary objective is to provide guidance that benefits the nation as a whole, rather than serving the interests of a particular political party.
The 11 appointed members, including Cletus Avoka, and other notable personalities like former Speaker of Parliament Doe Adjaho and former Attorney General Betty Mould Iddrisu were selected by President John Dramani Mahama to serve on the Council of State.
Speaking on Dreamz Breakfast Today show, Avoka Stated that, “The 11 who are appointed are men and women of integrity, and at this state our integrity is more important than party functionary”.
Avoka emphasized that the appointed members will not compromise their integrity by advising the President to make populist decisions that may harm the nation, instead, they will prioritize the country’s well-being and provide wise counsel to ensure its progress.
