Majority of Ghanaians say they believe the New Patriotic Party and its Presidential candidate will be better at achieving their 2020 manifesto promises than the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate. This is according to an opinion poll conducted by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Ghana.

The poll which was conducted on social media on September 12, 2020 sought to find out from Ghanaian electorates the political people they think will be better at achieving its 2020 manifesto promises based on fulfillment of previous manifesto promises and general performances in government of the two main political parties.

50.6 percent of the 9,386 persons who participated in the poll voted for the governing NPP as the party they believe will be better at achieving its 2020 manifesto promises while 49.4 percent tipped the opposition NDC as the party which they believe will be better at delivering on promises made in its “People’s Manifesto”.
The results of the poll was announced on the think-tank’s social media handles.

“On 12th September, the Institute conducted a twitter poll asking Ghanaians which political party they think will be better at achieving its manifesto promises in 2020, based on the political party’s previous manifestos and performances,” it stated.

On September 7, 2020, the NDC launched its manifesto titled “People’s Manifesto: Jobs, Prosperity and more,” which it said presents solutions to the real needs of Ghanaians since it solicited their views in drafting the manifesto.

The manifesto which is divided six areas promises to among others create 1 million jobs in the next four years, legal the operation of motorbikes for commercial purposes, provide free primary healthcare, establish universities in the newly established regions without same and extend the free SHS policy to private schools in deprived areas.
