Upper East Regional Communications Director of the now Opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Peter Ayamga Ayinbisa wants Ghanaians to maintain high expectations of the John Mahama administration.
Ayinbisa said the President and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) raised the expectations of many high with mouthwatering promises and must not let them down.
“No Ghanaian should lower your expectations. Let your expectations be high because he told us he was going to do ABC including lowering the bag of cement that’s still around 100 cedis, we should expect a bag of cement to come as low as 50 cedis. We expect fuel price to come down,” he stated.
“I want to see John Mahama perform and let’s have a growth rate in this country of about 10 percent. Let’s have inflation come down to single digit.”
Mahama, who led the NDC into the 2024 election, rode on the back of promises to restore the economy, tackle graft and unemployment as well as undertake infrastructural projects to improve the lives of Ghanaians.
He criticized the Akufo-Addo administration’s handling of the affairs of the country, accusing it of economic mismanagement, corruption and nonperformance and promising to turn things around for the better if elected.
He specifically pledged to reduce cost of living through sound economic management and restore the independence of state institutions.
Speaking on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM ahead of the inauguration of the President yesterday, Ayinbisa said Mahama must fulfill his pledge to reduce cost of living and undertake infrastructural projects particular in the Upper East Region.
He said although the NPP will not be a disruptive opposition party, it will hold the government to account.
“Nobody is going to interrupt his government. We will give him time to implement the things he said he will do.”
