Outgoing Upper East Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has urged the people of the region to embrace peace and unity for the development of the extreme Northeastern part of the country.
In an interview on Dreamz FM, Dr. Bin Salih, while bidding a farewell as he leaves office on January 7, 2025, thanked the chiefs and people of the region for their cooperation during his less than a year stint as the region’s head.
He also expressed his appreciation to both leaders of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stating that both parties have been supportive in the discharge of his duties.
Dr. Bin Salih, who hails from the Upper West Region, shared fond memories of his stay in the Upper East Region, acknowledging the region’s great potentials.
However, the realization of these potentials, he noted, hinges on peace and unity.
“For me, thing is there ought to be peace. And peace must emanate from the people.
We must have a peaceful atmosphere. The people themselves must be peaceful, love peace, imbibe peace and propagate peace”.
He added, “Secondly, unity. There has to be unity of purpose.
It is only when we have unity of purpose that we can harness the enormous potential that God has bestowed on the Upper East region”
He, thus, urged residents to embrace peace and unite to develop it and better their living conditions.
“If we are able to bring to the fore these two, I believe strongly that the Upper East region will continue to flourish and grow.”
It is his hope that the incoming Mahama administration, “will find sons and daughters of the Upper East region worthy enough to serve in his government so that we get good appointments for our brothers and sisters who are in the NDC so that we can come and help in the development of the Upper East region”.
