It all began with six clans in Yarigabisi which include Asaanabisi, Sograbisi Amunibiisi, Agungabisi, Awanekome and Beogonure.
After fierce group stage matches, Agungabisi, Awanekome, Beogonure and Amunibiisi qualified to the semi finals with some good results from their respective groups.
At the semi finals stage, Beogonure beat Awanekome by Two goals to nil and the other semi finals saw Agungabisi also beating Amunibiisi by Two goals to nil, both winners booking places for the finale.
For the third place match, Amunibiisi, who were the defending champions, beat Awanekome on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time. Interestingly, these two teams met at the finals last year where Amunibiisi beat Awanekome to emerge as champions.
This year’s finale saw Agungabisi beat Beogonure by a lone goal – the goal came in the early stages of the game.
The people of Yarigabisi and some football lovers from other areas in the Bolgatanga East District and beyond gathered to witness the spectacular display of talent and unity.
Assembly member for Yarigabisi Electoral Area Adamu Apasinore, who was present on the final day, took the opportunity to advised the youth of Yarigabisi to unite for peace and development.
He also thanked the chief and people of Yarigabisi for a successful Akaazeega festival that was held on November 23, 2024 and appealed for space to be used for sporting activities.
“We don’t football park. Where we are using for sporting activities belongs to someone. So I want to appeal all and sundry to contribute to secure a space for such activities,” he stated.
The representative of the chief of Yarigabisi community, Naba Patrick Ayinbila Asalia added his voice to the call for unity.
He urged the youth to unite and engage in useful activities that will raise the name of Yarigabisi high and refrain from such that defeat the purpose of the games.
The constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress for Bolgatanga East, Isaac Azure donated two sets of Jerseys for the finalists on behalf of the Member of Parliament for the area Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine.
This year Headline sponsor, Obuasi bitters also donated two packs of their products to the first and second placed clans, and further donated their new products, GRINGO to the third and fourth placed clans, with a cash donation of 2000 Ghana cedis to the Organizers to help in their organization.
Speaking on behalf of the Team Obuasi bitters, Mr Asamoah the Regional manager promised continued support for the Yarigabisi Youth peace and unity games.
He took time to educate the supporters about their new products Gringo which he said has health benefits when taken.
Each clan took home 200 Ghana cedis as appearance fees.
Awanekome, which finished fourth in the games, took home a package of GRINGO products from Obuasi and cash of 700 Ghana cedis while Amunibiisi took home a package of GRINGO products from Obuasi and cash of 800 Ghana cedis as prize for placing third.
For finishing second, Beogonure clan took home a package of Obuasi bitters, a set of jersey and cash amount of 900 Ghana cedis with winners of the games Agungabisi receiving a package of Obuasi bitters, a set of jersey, a trophy and cash of 1000 Ghana cedis as prize.
