Charles Bawaduah declared winner of the Bongo Constituency parliamentary election

The National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for the Bongo Constituency Charles Bawaduah has been elected as Member of Parliament for the area.

Bawaduah, who is a legal practitioner, amassed 30,114 votes to win the seat as against his main and only contender Diana Aburiya, who polled 9,528 of the valid votes cast.

The legal practitioner won the NDC primary in May 2023, stopping the incumbent MP for the area Edward Bawa’s attempt to seek re-election in the 2024 election.

He has since gone ahead to win the parliamentary election in the area, cementing the NDC’s dominance of the constituency.

The umbrella party has been winning in both presidential and parliamentary elections in every election in the area since 1992.

Charles Bawaduah’s victory adds up to more than 3 decades of the party’s control of the constituency.

Delivering a speech after being declared winner of the parliamentary elections, Bawaduah assured constituents that the incoming NDC government will address pertinent issues bedevilling the area.

“Im sure, at the end of the day, when John Dramani Mahama is sworn-in, we will work hard to resolve the numerous things that afflict the people of Bongo,” he stated.

The MP-elect particularly decried the inadequate furniture situation in most schools, stating that it is one of the challenges the new government will be tackling head-on.

“I have had the opportunity to go round almost all the schools in this district. It is a major problem. In fact, it is as if it is a disease that has afflicted the schools in Bongo. I’m pretty sure that John Mahama with me will resolve the problem. This is because in the manifesto of the NDC, providing furniture is one of the many things that stand high so we will together work to see that we address the situation”.
