The Member for Nabdam Constituency Dr. Kurt Mark Nawaane has been re-elected as MP for the area for a third term.
Dr. Nawaane secured 11,192 of the valid votes to retain the seat typically won by the NDC except in 2012.
His only contender and parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party Charles Taleog Ndanbon, polled 6,680 votes, failing in his quest to snatch the seat for the NPP.
The margin of victory is, thus, 4,512 votes, making it one of Nawaane’s big wins in the area’s parliamentary contest.
The NDC has won the Nabdam seat in every parliamentary elections held since 1992 except in 2012, when Boniface Gambila won it for the first time for the NPP.
Boniface Gambila, however, lost the seat in 2016 to Dr. Nawaane, who had succeeded the longest-serving MP for the area Moses Asaga as the NDC’s candidate.
Dr. Nawaane retained the seat in 2020, blocking Gambila’s attempt for a comeback.
Charles Ndanbon then succeeded Gambila with the hope of doing the magic but has now failed.
