The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Bolgatanga Central Constituency Elvis Atia Awonekai says supposed attempts by his contender and MP for the area Isaac Adongo to manipulate the electoral process in the area will not wash.
According to Awonekai, the people of the constituency are resolute in their quest for a new representative and will not be swayed by the MP’s intimidatory tactics.
The NPP candidate, speaking to the media, alleged that heavily built men from the camp of Isaac Adongo were going around harassing voters in areas he (Awonekai) is seen as popular.
But such acts, he said, will not scare the people away from voting to reject him as their MP.
“Early this morning, there were reports of the MP’s guys coming over to my house to cause problems. Isaac Adongo, some of his team guys. The macho men are around from there, they’ve moved to D-Line. They are on their way to Sawaba,” he stated.
“For me, whatever he does, today is his end. Nobody can intimidate anybody in Bolga”.
Awonekai, who is confident of victory, said he was already in a celebratory as at the time he cast his vote in the morning.
