FORMER STATE OF ESTHER AND HER PRESENT STATE

You may recall the story of Esther, which was first told to you in July 2024. Well, Esther has finally undergone the corrective surgical procedure.

Esther, who suffered multiple injuries, was expected to undergo corrective surgery but lacked funds.

Dreamz News in the early days of July reported about the plight of Esther, who in October 2022, was preparing porridge for her now two-year-old boy and had an epileptic attack that would later make her a pale shadow of her former self.

Esther was full of life and looked naturally stout, as her previous pictures show a young lady beaming with smiles.

Esther could no longer afford to look at her deformed state in the mirror. She was virtually scared of her image.

An attempt at it would her crying the whole day. Scared to look at herself in the mirror, Esther was traumatized by people avoiding her because of her condition, and children immediately crying and running away upon seeing her face.

She sustained severe injury to her face, eyes, neck, and shoulder areas after the epileptic attack made her fall straight into a burning coal pot with boiling water.

Before she could be rescued, she had sustained serious damage to the upper part of her body.

She had her chin held to her chest, her left eye seriously injured, and a face and neck full of scars and was unable to raise her head or turn her neck as a result. She took a lot of time to eat solid food. Esther was compelled to use a straw to drink water.

ESTHER RESPONDING TO TREATMENT AFTER THE SURGERY

A letter from the Tamale Teaching Hospital indicated that she was diagnosed with multiple severe contractors (post burns) requiring specialist care at the Plastic Unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

The entire cost of the surgery, which was pegged at GH¢18,500 involved neck release estimated at GH¢11,000, medication at GH¢2,000, ectropian release costing GH¢1,500, and GH¢4,000 for muscleneus.

Following the report, Dreamz News started an appeal to the public, which saw members of the public making contributions to the tune of 5,229 cedis.

The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, whose intention was drawn to Esther’s condition following the report, then intervened and footed the full cost of the surgery.

Cindy Akalose, Esther’s friend revealed that the surgery was finally done at the Baptist Medical Center in Nalerigu.
