Former minister of Inner Cities and Zango Development Boniface Abubakar Sidique has strongly criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, accusing him of eight years of poor leadership.

Sidique contends that Akufo-Addo’s 2016 election victory, fueled by his “try me” slogan, has yielded disastrous economic results.

Speaking in the Builsa South Constituency of the Upper East Region during the Alliance for Change’s regional tour, Sidique emphasized that Ghanaians would have remained unaware of Akufo-Addo’s ineffective leadership style if they hadn’t elected him.

He vividly illustrated this point, saying, “When we are in pain, our cry is different; when we are released, our cry is different.”

Sidique directly attributed Ghana’s economic woes to Akufo-Addo’s leadership. He highlighted the country’s struggling currency, widespread joblessness and economic hardship as evidence of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration’s failures.

To rescue Ghana from its current crisis, Sidique is highly confident that, Alan John Kyeremanten, founder and leader of the Alliance for Change is the best bet, emphasizing his impressive credentials, having served as Ghana’s Minister for Trade and Industry, and Ambassador to the United States.

Sidique’s critique reflects growing discontent with Ghana’s status quo. With the 2024 elections looming, Kyeremanten’s candidacy according to Mr Sidique offers a promising alternative.
