In a bid to motivate schoolchildren to give their best in class, Alombinuo Foundation, a Not-for-profit Organisation based in the Upper East Region, has awarded pupils of Yipaala Basic School, who excelled in their end of term examination.

3 best performing learners each from Basic 2 to Basic 9 received various learning materials including books, pens and bags as prizes for shining in the exams.

In all, 24 learners of the school were recognized for demonstrating excellence in the examination.

The Foundation also supported 32 others from less privileged backgrounds with school uniforms.

Founded in January 2024, Alombinuo Foundation has been lending a helping hand to the needy as part of its agenda to create an avenue for the less privileged to thrive.

Some of its activities include supporting schoolchildren, providing skills training for those out of school and medical support for people with drug use disorders.

Speaking at the award and donation ceremony held on October 2, 2024 at the Yipaala Basic School, Manager for the foundation Jennifer Anapoka Agamolga said the gesture was part of the organisation’s commitment to support cater for the needy in society.

“This is actually our fourth activity of the year. We did a donation at an orphanage home and supported SHS students who lost a parent or both. We are currently rehabilitating a person with drug use disorder.

It’s our way of giving back to society, ensuring that people who are less privileged also have opportunities to excel in life,” she stated.

She appealed to the general public to support the foundation in its quest to help create a better society.

“As a young foundation, it’s sometimes difficult for us to raise funds to carry out these activities, so we are pleading to the general public, philanthropists out there, who are passionate about youth empowerment that we are ready for their support. If there is any partnership that they want to work with us on, we are ready for it so that we will be able to impact more lives.”

In her appreciative remarks, head teacher for the Yipaala Kindergarten and lower basic school Margaret Akugre said the support will go a long way to promote learning in the school.

“We are so glad for their gesture. It will the help children. Most of the children are needy in this community. Sometimes, we the teachers would have to help, we have to give a book or a pen or a pencil to some before they can write. We want to thank them sincerely for what they have done,” the head teacher said.
