Member of Parliament for Nabdam, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane says the decision of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to settle on Charles Taleog Ndanbon as its parliamentary candidate for the Constituency shows the party lacks quality human resources.

Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, Dr. Nawaane said the NPP parliamentary candidate was foisted on the party by the former MP and Ghana’s current ambassador to Burkina Faso, Boniface Gambila.

He argued that the NPP would have elected a more competent person and not allowed the former MP to impose his relative on the party if it had in stock the right human resources.

“His candidature is, I would say, it shows how depleting the stock in the NPP in terms of human resources is.

In Ghana politics, you don’t run, get tired and hand over to your junior brother. The NPP made a very grievous mistake by allowing him to hand over to his junior brother”.

The NDC MP believes that  Ndanbon’s familial relationship with the NPP’s former parliamentary candidate was enough grounds for the party to have rejected him and presented someone else as its candidate.

However, the party’s failure to do this, he asserted, has worsen its case in the area and portray it as one that condones nepotistic politics.

“The NPP people have made their case worse by allowing the former minister, the former member of parliament, to hand over the party leadership to his junior brother.  It has become a family affair,” he said.

Confident of retaining his seat, Dr. Nawaane said, “I have stood against his senior brother, Boniface Gambila, well-educated consultant in development or something like that and on two occasions, I beat him. And now he’s handing over to his own junior brother,” he stated.

Dr. Kurt Nawaane faces opposition in his bid for re-election in the 2024 polls. While Charles Ndanbon of the NPP seeks to win the seat for the second in the history of the constituency for the NPP, Dr. Nawaane wants to consolidate the NDC’s dominance in the area.
