The Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salahu-Deen Musah Al-Khomeini is asking Ghanaians to reject former president, John Dramani Mahama’s quest to become president of the country again.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today, the youth leader said voting for Mahama in the 2024 general elections will grant him the license to connive with his cronies to loot state resources.
He noted that the former president, having served for a term, is eligible for only one term and thus, it will be difficult to hold him to account for his stewardship if he is made president again.
He is, therefore, appealing to Ghanaians to choose the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is eligible for two terms and can be held accountable if he is seeking re-election.
“If you vote John Mahama, he goes there, he loots and shares with his cronies and he leaves officer. However, with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, he still comes to us and he will be accountable to whatever he is going to do,” he stated.
On the NPP’s prospects in the Upper East Region, Salahu-Deen indicated that the party is targeting to add 5 more seats to the one it is currently holding.
He expressed confidence in the party’s parliamentary candidates in the region to help it meet the set target.
“We have Binduri already. We have 5 other constituencies that we are looking at. All our parliamentary candidates are doing very well. All of them are working very hard”.
