The complaints, in the petition against the New Patriotic Party’s Constituency Chairman and parliamentary candidate of Pusiga, have defended their demand for the removal of the two officers from the party.

Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, one of the petitioners, Jamal Musah Bature said the two officers have contravened the party’s constitution and should be made to face the consequences.

“A party member campaigning seriously for opposition candidate and you think we should not remove him? What is he there for?” He questioned.

“He’s representing the NPP party and if you’re in the NPP, and you’re campaigning against the party’s presidential candidate? We will call for his removal because he is not working in line with the presidential candidate”.

He questioned the commitment and loyalty of the parliamentary candidate and Constituency Chairman to the NPP, suggesting that they are sabotaging its efforts to clinch another victory .

Musah Bature and Issah Mashud petitioned the Regional Executive Committee of the NPP demanding the removal of the two party officers for anti-party conduct.

The petition came at the back of a video in which the Constituency Chairman, Issaka Seidu is seen campaigning for the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Hanan Aludiba Abdul-Wahab but against the flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He is particularly heard telling the gathering to vote the NPP parliamentary candidate and John Dramani Mahama of the NDC in the December polls.

In the petition dated July 8, 2024, the petitioners said the parliamentary candidate, who was present when Issaka Seidu made what they consider anti-party comment, failed to disassociate him from the Chairman’s comments but was rather seen smiling and clapping in support.

This, they say, is an obvious endorsement of the campaign against the NPP’s leader and thus, a gross violation of the provision of the party’s constitution which enjoins members to uphold its decisions publicly.

They, therefore, want the party to declare that the two have forfeited their membership of the NPP by their action as spelt out by the said constitutional provision.

Musah Bature believes removing the two will not only save the party from internal sabotage but also serve as deterrent to others.

“We want the party to use him and the chairman as scapegoat so that others who are yet to do same will be deterred” .
