Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has described himself as the most effective Vice-President in the history of Ghana.
Speaking at the unveiling or his running-mate at Jubilee Park in Kumasi, Dr. Bawumia said no Vice-President since the formation of the country has been able to make the kind of strides he has made towards the progress of the country in the close to 8 years has been in office.
This, he emphasized, is a fact which even his opponents acknowledge.
“I am a Vice-President. I have never been president. But everyone acknowledges that I am the most effective Vice-President in the history of Ghana,” he stated.
“Even NDC members do acknowledge this. If you look at Vice-Presidents we have had since independence, none of them could match me in terms of performance”.
While urging voters to elect him as president, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer highlighted how crucial the 2024 elections are to the country’s development, stating that it is a choice between progress and retrogression.
He touted the achievements of the Akufo-Addo-led government, arguing that it has demonstrated that it has what it takes to transform the country positively.
But same cannot be said about the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama, he stated.
He, therefore, asked voters to retain the NPP to continue the implementation of innovative policies that will propel Ghana’s development and reject the NDC, who, he claims, will retard development.
“The 2024 elections are about our future. It’s about going forward or backwards. Whether we want digital transformation or chicks to rear. That’s the choice”
Dr. Bawumia explained that his choice of the Energy Minister, Dr. Mathew Opoku-Prempeh as his Vice-Presidential candidate is informed by the party’s commitment to ensuring inclusivity.
He expressed confidence in the Energy Minister to aid him realize his vision if elected, describing him as a “problem solver and a generational thinker”.
