The Bongo Constituency Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abugre Jonathan has complained about the posture of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Rita Atanga towards leadership of the party.
According to Abugre, the DCE has side-lined executives of the party in the constituency in the activities of the district.
The Constituency Youth Organizer, while expressing worry over the DCE’s posture, said the situation does not augur well for unity in the NPP and could thwart its quest to win the area’s seat.
“If she is going to commission a project in a particular electoral area, not just me Constituency Youth Organizer, even the polling station youth organizer, where the project is, should be made aware,” he stated.
“But this is the case my DCE goes to a place, commission a project or cut sod and party executives there including myself are not aware. I think it is something I should be worried about”.
He stated that they had expected madam Rita, following her appointment as head of the district, to mend the seeming cracks within the NPP and bolster it chances in the area.
However, she has failed to live up to this expectation, in his view, and her action could further deepen those cracks and cost the party dearly in the upcoming elections, he asserted.
“We have a DCE who came in and we thought that she going to unite the party because we thought she was not part of the perceived problems. But sorry to say she hasn’t lived up to expectation” .
Abugre, who has not lost hope in the party making history by winning the seat, is calling on leadership of the NPP at both the regional and national levels to intervene to salvage the situation.
