Tangoba Abayage, Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the Navrongo Central constituency in the Upper East region has touted her ability to lobby for projects for the region and her constituency.
Following the construction of the Navrongo-Kologo-Naaga road, the resumption of work on the Bolgatanga-Bawku road and the near commencement of the construction of the Pwalugu multipurpose dam all in the Upper East region, Ms Tangoba Abayage who is the Regional Minister said she forcefully lobbied and made efforts for the projects to see the light of day.
In a bid to represent the people of Navrongo in Parliament after the 2020 elections, she argued that one key attribute of a competent member of parliament is the ability to lobby and not be limited to only the constitutional mandate of making laws.
In her assertion, she has the potential to lobby using all available means including the use of social media.
“I’m an excellent lobbyist. Unless I don’t want the project,” she said in an interview on GhOne TV monitored by dreamzfmonline.com.
“One of the key attributes of a key politician and for that matter a member of parliament is being a good lobbyist…If you are a good parliamentarian, you should be able to lobby,” she argued.
The one time Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy disclosed that one of her desired achievements when she assumed the position of regional minister was to see to the construction of the Pwalugu multipurpose dam and major roads in the region. A desire she strongly fought for by making a case at the first cabinet meeting she attended and constantly consulted and reminded the key decision makers on the projects.
Having served as an Ambassador to Italy and currently serving as Regional Minister, Ms Abayage beat the New Patriotic Party’s member of parliament Joseph Kofi Adda in the recently held parliamentary primaries, getting into the race to parliament with the National Democratic Congress’ Sampson Tangonbu Chiragia.
