TANGOBA ABAYAGE-REGIONAL MINSITER, UPPER EAST

Ms. Tangoba Abayage, the Upper East Regional Minister has said she is unperturbed about criticisms over her addiction and conspicuous presence on social media.

She argued that social media particularly Facebook and WhatsApp are significant platforms she has used to drive impactful initiatives and achieved significant results.

Madam Abayage has been criticized by her opponents and a section of the public for her noticeable presence on social media platforms and spending productive time surfing the internet.

But the former Ghana’s Ambassador to Italy has in two separate media interviews admitted to spending sufficient time on social media for good reasons, a feature about her she will not depart from anytime soon.

“I have been on Facebook since the early days. I have been there for a very long time and am not leaving any time soon. I use it for good reasons and it has been part of my success stories,” she said in an interview on Bolgatanga based Yem Radio.

In a separate interview on GhOne TV monitored by dreamzfmonline.com, Ms Tangoba Abayage disclosed that she spends late hours of the night on social media responding to matters of importance that relate to the development of her region.

“I don’t sleep early and I’m a social media freak. People have called me names but I like that. Sometimes I’ll be on WhatsApp and then I’ll notice that somebody I need to really get for something to be done is on WhatsApp at that time,” she mentioned.

It will be recalled that the female regional minister who currently doubles as parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party for the Navrongo central constituency was quizzed about her social media addiction when she appeared before parliament’s vetting committee upon her nomination. She explained that her love for and visible presence on Facebook would not affect her job but will instead use it to promote and develop the upper east region.
