The people of Asograbisi, a suburb of Yarigabisi in the Bolgatanga East District will no longer have to drink from unsafe sources or walk long distance in search of potable water.

This is because the Borehole Project, a group based in California, USA and dedicated to providing safe drinking water to deprived communities in Africa, in  collaboration with local partners has constructed a borehole for the community.

The Asograbisi Community has, for years, depended on unsafe sources for water with residents who desire potable water having to walk long distance in search of same.

This has exposed community members to water related diseases and left those who travel long distance in search of clean drinking water exhausted and unable to carry out any meaningful activity after such hunt.

However, the people of the area can now breath a sigh of relief after the Borehole Project extended its kind gesture to them.

Speaking at a short ceremony to commission the project, Upper East Regional Coordinator of the Borehole Project, Daniel Ayinpanga said it is part of a grand scheme to resolve water crisis in Africa.

He indicated that they have so far constructed 10 boreholes in selected communities in Ghana and will be extending such aid to other African countries.

“These are partners from California who saw a need to solve water problems in Africa and Ghana is their starting point,” he stated.

“So far, we have constructed more than 10 boreholes”.

Some community members who were present at the ceremony expressed their excitement about the development and thanked the group for relieving them of their struggles.
