It was all smiles for some 36 dressing-making graduates from the Bolga East Constituency, who took part in a graduation ceremony held over the weekend by the Ghana Tailors Association in Bolgatanga after they received sewing machines from the Parliamentary Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bolgatanga East Constituency, Mathew Silas Amoah.

The gesture forms part of the candidate’s desire to equip various individuals in the skills area in the constituency.

Speaking on behalf of the Parliamentary candidate, the Bolgatanga East Constituency Communication Director of the NPP, Atera Ayembila Abubakari, noted that the invitation came at a time when the candidate was outside the country hence the decision for him to present the items on his behalf.

He explained that Mr. Amoah recognized that not all individuals can make it in life through school thus the donation to the dressmakers who are in the informal sector.

Apart from the dressmakers, the parliamentary candidate intends to make similar donations to weavers, hairdressers, and mechanics, who are learning the trades in the Bolga East Constituency.

Mr. Ayembila says Mr. Amoah hopes to empower as many youths as possible as he reiterates his desire to transform the constituency.

“The poverty level in this part of the country is so high. Not everybody can go far in school so he thought it wise that ‘I want to empower those into handwork to stop them from traveling down south’ so he bought 38 machines for us to give to them. But he is also targeting weavers, mechanics, and hairdressers among others. Mathew is changing the face of Bolga East. He wants to improve the people’s lives in the area so I want to urge people to pray and support him.” Mr. Ayembila appealed for support for the candidate.
