The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region says it may also bring in foreign national to register in the Pusiga Constituency to neutralize the electoral roll.

The party, who has been accusing the governing New Patriotic Party of facilitating the registration of foreign nationals, says its concerns have fallen on deaf ears.

It had earlier claimed to have blocked the registration of foreigners brought into the area by the governing party to partake in the ongoing limited voters registration.

But the Ghana Card registration being undertaken by the National Identification Authority in the area, it said, has made it impossible to prevent the supposed foreigners from getting onto the electoral roll since they have been issued with Ghana’s national IDs.

The NDC had described the national ID card registration as a ploy to get foreigners onto the roll and demanded that the registration be suspended.

But speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Thursday, Regional Communication Officer of the NDC, Abdallah Jonathan Salifu said the party may consider also busing in foreigners to neutralize the situation since their demands have not been heeded to.

“Oh yes (we may also bus in foreigners to register). We have a situation where the NIA, out of the 275 constituencies across the country, only Pusiga has been identified for piloting the registration of Ghanaians by giving then instant NIA cards, is that not interesting to you?”

He added, “Nobody has listened to us so if that’s what will neutralize the system so be it. If a wrong is being committed and nobody is listening to us and it will take a wrong to correct it, so be it. Maybe that’s the language that everybody understands”.
