The National Identification Authority has commenced piloting a special Ghana Card registration for Ghanaians living in the border district of Pusiga.
The pilot registration is being undertaken in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and it is scheduled to last close to a month, the NIA said in a statement.
“The National Identification Authority (NIA) announces to the general public that in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), it will commence a special pilot Ghana Card Registration for Ghanaians living along the borders of Ghana and Burkina Faso, beginning Monday, 20th May to Friday, 14th June, 2024”.
It added that the registration will be conducted in two phases.
“The special pilot registration programme will span over a month and will be conducted in two phases. Therefore, all Ghanaians living in Pusiga who have not been able to register are encouraged to do so”.
The first phase began today and it is expected to end on May 31, 2024. Areas where the first phase will be conducted include Widana/Pulmakom at the Area Council, Kulugungu at the Primary School and Pusiga at the Pusiga Area Council.
Phase two is scheduled to commence on 3rd June and end on 14th June, 2024.
Registration in this phase will take place at Zuabulga with the centre being the Zuabulga Primary School.
The rest of the areas where registration will be taking place include Kultamise at the Kultamise Primary School and Pusiga at the Hariya Primary School.
Prospective registrants are supposed to visit the aforementioned centres with the required document for registration.
“In the absence of a Birth Certificate or a valid Ghana Passport, one relative or two approved members of the community who have registered and received their Ghana Cards can vouch for you under oath”.
