The Electoral Commission has committed another blunder in compiling the number of registrants in the ongoing Limited Voter Registration exercise.
In a post on social media, the election management body noted that it had inadvertently repeated figures recorded in the Greater Accra Region for the Upper East Region.
The blunder, the EC explained, was committed in compiling number of Challenge Cases in the two regions.
However, it indicated that the mistake has been corrected and that more rigorous measures will be instituted to avoid such errors going forward.
“The Commission has noted the figure for Greater Accra was wrongly repeated for Upper East on the slide on Challenge cases earlier published. All other slides are correct. The Commission has today met with the Team responsible for developing the Infographs and made significant changes. In addition, more rigorous methods will be instituted going forward,” it stated.
This is the second time the EC is making such a mistake in the compilation of data in the going limited voter registration after a similar blunder during results tallying in the 2020 elections made the commission a subject of public ridicule.
