National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Gyamfi has hinted of his party’s return to Peace FM’s morning show if the issues that led to the boycott of the programme are addressed by the radio station with regards to guests who appear on the show and mutual respect.
Commenting on the matter of the boycott and Peace FM’s overture for their return, Samuel Gyamfi, said that the party was not at war with the station, but only had issues with the modus of empaneling guests on the news analysis programme, stressing that the party shall return if their demands are met.
“We are not at loggerheads with Peace FM; we still appear on Peace FM, we speak on their news programmes and their affiliates…Our problem was with one of their shows’ relative to unfair paneling and mutual respect which we thought was lacking,” he explained.
He then stressed that “if the reasons which occasioned the boycott are resolved,” the NDC shall return to the show.
The NDC boycotted the flagship political talk show in May this year, citing bias caused by unfair paneling and lack of mutual respect.
But earlier this week, management of the radio station, in a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the NDC, appealed to the party to return to the show. The management also took responsibility for the misunderstandings that led to the boycott.
Even though the NDC is yet to formally write to Peace FM on the matter, Sammy Gyamfi’s reaction means that the party may likely call of the boycott and return to the show soon.
