Starling Baba being welcomed by the NDC Constituency for Bolgatanga East

Former parliamentary candidate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) for the Bolgatanga East Constituency Starling Ayinenongma Baba has defected to the National Democratic Congress.

At ceremony at the NDC Bolgatanga East Constituency office to announce his defection to the umbrella party, he said his decision to switch camp is informed by his desire to support and contribute to the development of the area.

“I am here to let everybody know that from today onwards, I am no more a member of the Progressive People’s Party and I have switched camp to the National Democratic Congress, “ he announced.

“I have observed for sometime now and I have seen that it is better I collaborate with the NDC rather than the NPP”.

Starling Baba contested the Bolgatanga East seat in 2012 and 2016 on the ticket of the PPP.

He, however, placed last in both occasions and did not stage a comeback in the subsequent elections.

Explaining his decision to defect to the NDC, Starling Baba said the umbrella party and its MP Dominic Ayine have demonstrated that they are development oriented and have the people of the area at heart.

He stated that the MP has spearheaded numerous developmental projects in the area since it was created, providing residents with the needed amenities.

“I have seen that since 2012 that was even campaigning against Akuritinga, there were boreholes drilled everywhere in each of the 10 electoral areas we had then. Zuarungu of what it used to be and the Zuarungu of now after we obtained the constituency and the person leading it is massive and I am so happy to join him”.

This, for him, is worth supporting hence, his decision to join the NDC and assist its campaign to return to power.

Constituency Chairman of the party, while handing him a membership card, expressed gratitude to him for choosing the NDC.

He also called on residents of the area to rally behind the party and its parliamentary candidate in their quest to win the upcoming elections as he believes the constituency is better off in the hands of the NDC.
