A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says Ghanaians will be making the biggest mistake if they re-elect former president John Dramani Mahama with hopes that he will find solution to the prevailing economic crisis.
Wilson Dabuo argued that the former leader during his tenure as president did not demonstrate that he has what it takes to tackle the developmental challenges confronting the country.
“There are problems but I’m saying in spite of the problems the solution of all these problems cannot be the re-election of John Mahama into office. We will be making the greatest of mistake in our lives,” he stated in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM.
He recalled similar crisis that plagued Ghana under the Mahama administration.
But he contented that while the current crisis has been occasioned by external shocks, the situation then was due to mismanagement by the then government.
He said although there were no such external shocks as it pertains now, Mr. Mahama and his government, through poor leadership, plunged the country into difficulties.
“Let’s go back to 2012 right up to 2016, we know the situation in which our economy was plunged into. Even without a pandemic, even without global crisis yet the economy was seen struggling. Yet the economy was seen at the verge of collapse,” he stated.
This, for him, is an indication that the former leader has no solution to the challenges Ghana has been bedevilled with.
Dabuo, instead, wants Ghanaians to repose their confidence in the flagbearer of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to take Ghana out of the woods.
He stressed the importance of maintaining a government in office for a longer period, stating that constantly changing leadership does not augur for the development of the country.
“I believe that not any other person but Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia could be the right person to stand in to continue such developmental progress we have chalked”.
