The District Chief Executive for Bolgatanga East District Agana Albert Akugre has explained the circumstances surrounding the inclusion of non-existent projects in the government’s Performance Tracker.
Following the launch of the tracker aimed at enhancing accountability and transparency, it was observed that projects included in the database system claimed to have been undertaken in the Bolgatanga East District did not exist.
The two dams supposedly undertaken at Gambibgo and Daborin have since been taken down.
But speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, the DCE for the area described their inclusion on the tracker as a mistake.
He explained that the areas were part of those earmarked for the construction of the dams.
However, they were later found to be unsuitable and excluded during the implementation, he stated.
As part of the process for validating projects to be included in the Performance Tracker, a document containing all planned amenities were sent to the MMDCAs for verification.
He said although those responsible for validating the projects had indicated that the said amenities had not been implemented, they were inadvertently inputted by the Performance Tracker team.
“All those areas that you have seen them, if you go to the old document, you will see that they were designated for 1V1D. But when the projects were going on, they couldn’t construct them there and they didn’t check well to know whether they have been constructed or not. I think that was the mistake that they made,” he stated.
