Senior lecturer at the University for Development Studies (UDS) Dr. Michael Adongo Ayamga says he is almost certain former president and flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress John Dramani Mahama will emerge victorious in the 2024 polls.
Speaking in an interview on JoyNews today, the development economics lecturer said the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) handling of the country’s affairs and cracks within the party make it unappealing to the electorates thereby positioning the NDC to takeover the governance of the country.
He stressed that the NPP continues to decline in its dominance and is likely to lose the presidential and parliamentary elections to the opposition party.
“I am almost certain that we will be swearing in president John Dramani Mahama on January 7, 2025,” he stated.
“I want to particularly stressed that look at between October 2023 and April 2024, the NPP has lost 6 percent of its votes and it has been a consistent trend”.
Dr. Michael Ayamga was reacting to a survey conducted by Global InfoAnalytics that reveals that membership of the governing party has declined over time.
It also shows that 65 percent of those surveyed say the country is heading in the wrong direction while 62 percent disapprove of the performance of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Dr. Michael Ayamga commended the Global InfoAnalytics for the survey but stated that the findings paint a better picture for the NPP than in reality.
“The polls even put the NPP in a good stead better than what the reality on the ground is. The way in which Alan Kyerematen was handled in the party us their management of the economy, these combined to affect the NPP badly”.
