Traditional guitarist King Ayisoba has shed light on his journey to stardom.
King Ayisoba said while he had always been positive about making it through music, the journey was not rosy.
He indicated that he started his music career, playing at pito (a locally brewed alcoholic beverage) joints in his hometown Bongo-Soe.
His skilful display attracted crowds to those joints and increased patronage of the beverage.
“I was playing my Koligo at Bongo-Soe at 3 pito joints. When I woke up in the morning, I would ride my bicycle to play from one joint to another. People liked my music a lot. They would gather to listen while consuming the pito. In no time, they would finish the pito and I would move to another joint,” he stated.
Through this, King Ayisoba made some cash that enabled him marry his first wife. He then travelled down south where he worked as farm hand and continued his music exploits.
He later moved further down south to Accra where he worked as a security man at a hotel.
It was there that through a music enthusiast, he met the late hiplife musician Terry Bonchaka, who played a key role in his career.
Speaking in an interview on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga, King Ayisoba said he worked with Terry Bonchaka on a number of songs and that gave him his breakthrough.
“A music enthusiast met me and said he was going to introduce me to Terry Bonchaka. He introduced me to Terry Bonchaka and through Terry Bonchaka, I met all big stars and I knew I would be big. I worked with Terry Bonchaka on a number of his songs and he was flourishing before he died in the accident”.
The ‘I want to see you my father’ hitmaker indicated that he is currently working on a new album as he targets a Grammys nomination.
